Iyar Elezra was born in Tel Aviv in 1987 and studied at the high school of the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance. She joined the Batsheva Ensemble in 2005 and danced with the Batsheva Dance Company from 2008 until 2016. During her time in Batsheva, besides working regularly with Ohad Naharin, she also worked with choreographers Yasmeen Godder, Sharon Eyal, and Roy Assaf. Iyar was a recipient of the America-Israel Cultural Foundation education scholarship in 2002-2004. She choreographed and participated in Curtain Up 2015, a centerpiece of Israel’s contemporary dance calendar for young choreographers. Iyar received the Yair Shapira award in 2016.
