Yuri Zhukov

Yuri Zhukov began his dance studies at the Vaganova Ballet Academy in St. Petersburg, Russia and danced professionally with The Kirov Ballet, The San Francisco Ballet, and The Birmingham Royal Ballet. Over the course of his career he performed leading roles in classical ballets such as Giselle, Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella and Nutcracker. Balanchine’s Agon, Serenade, Symphony in C, The Four Temperaments and others, and in dance works by Jerome Robbins, Helgi Tomasson, James Kudelka and David Bintley.

Yuri was engaged as a ballet master at the Royal Swedish Ballet (2000 – 2003, 2014 – 2019) and as a guest teacher with Cullberg Ballet, GoteborgOperans Dancekompani, Carte Blanche, Monte-Carlo Ballet and San Francisco Ballet.

In 2008 he founded Zhukov Dance Theatre, new contemporary dance company in San Francisco.

Yuri designed sets for the Firebird, La Valse, Classical Symphony (Y.Possokhov choreographer) for the San Francisco Ballet and Oregon Ballet Theater, as well as for his own productions of Zhukov Dance Theatre.

He choreographed for the 59 North – Touring Group of the Royal Swedish Ballet, the Royal Birmingham Ballet, the Birmingham Contemporary Music Group, the English Dance Youth Company, Company C, City Youth Ballet/City Ballet School of San Francisco and Zhukov Dance Theatre.
